Logging into Griddle
Users will be set up with a user name and login by the Griddle support team.
Go to app.griddle.education to login to Griddle
Username - this will usually be the email address of the user. Note that this is case sensitive and should be entered in all lowercase letters.
Password - enter the password that was sent when registered as a user, or the password created when following the reset password process outlined below.
Login - after completing the username and password field click Login to login to Griddle
Forgot password -for forgotten passwords or to reset a password click on forgot password.
Resetting your password
If a user has forgotten their password or would like to reset their password click on forgot password on the login screen to create a new password.
Email - enter the email address that was used to register as a Griddle user.
Reset Password - clicking this button will send an email with a link to reset the password.
A message will appear below the email field:
Check email for the link. The email will come from support@griddle.educationClicking the link in the email will take the user to the reset password screen.
Enter and confirm the new password.
Passwords must be at least 8 characters and contain a letter, a number and a special character.
Back to Login - clicking on this will return you to the login screen if the user decides not to proceed with changing their password.
Select App
Depending on the role, once logged the user may need to choose what they enter. Current options are to enter the timetable or Daily Organisation sections of Griddle.
Click on the button of the app to enter.
At any stage users can switch between Timetable and Daily Organisation by clicking on the down arrow next to the Griddle logo at the top left side of the screen.
If a user only has access to one application they will enter that application directly after logging into Griddle.
Versions Page
Selecting Timetable will open the Versions page
A version is a different copy of the timetable data. Some of these will be historical data - past timetables, some of them will be drafts - future timetables or trial versions.
Clicking on the row of a version will open it up and changes can be made.
The version can also be opened by clicking on the three dots at the far right side of the row and selecting Edit.
You can return to the Versions page from any screen in Griddle by clicking on the Griddle logo at the top left of the screen.
There are other functions which can be accessed from the context menu on the versions page. These will be dealt with in future sessions as they become relevant.
Settings/Logout
Once logged into Griddle there is a purple dot in the top right corner of the screen. Clicking on this dot gives the option to open settings, the job list or logout.
Clicking on logout takes the user back to the login page.
The Job List shows that status of any jobs that have been run, such as Duplicating a Version and Importing the Timetable to Daily Org
Clicking on Settings opens the setting modal.
The settings modal has 2 tabs. The first tab is the Profile tab where the user can enter their name.
This will add their initials to the Purple dot and their name to the Welcome in Daily Org
The second tab is the Integration tab where users can enter their Compass Username and API key. This will be used when publishing from Griddle to Compass.
Menu layout
The menu layout in Griddle comprises of a top menu - across the top of the screen. Working from left to right will take the user through the process of developing a timetable.
When a top menu is selected the left side menu items will change.
Clicking on each of the left side menu items will open the relevant screens to enter information or perform tasks related to the selected item.
The left side menu can be collapsed by clicking on the arrow at the bottom.
The collapsed menu can be expanded by clicking the arrow
Clickable rows
Most of the menus will open a list view.
Items in the list view can be edited individually. To open and edit an item in a list view either click on the row of the item, or by clicking on the three dots that appear when the mouse is hovered over the far right end of the row then selecting edit.
Bread Crumbs
When editing individual items there is a breadcrumb to indicate where you are.
Tool tips
In the list view screens there is additional information that can be found by hovering over the item and looking at the tooltip that pops up.
Context menu
In the list view screens there is a context menu.
To access this menu hover the mouse over the end of the row and click on the three dots that appear. Items from the menu can then be selected by clicking on the desired item.
Search box
Some pages have a search box. Items can easily be found in list views by entering a search term in the search box. This will then show only items in the list that match the search.
Column Visibility
Column Visibility allows users to select which columns to show on the screen.
Click on the column visibility icon, check/uncheck the columns to be displayed/hidden, then click close
When some columns are hidden the column visibility icon will have a number to indicate that there is hidden information. This selection is saved for future use.
