The Sponsor is your school's main contact with Compass and leads the onboarding. This article has every onboarding step for the Sponsor for a Victorian Government school, in order. Step numbers match Your onboarding checklist (VIC Gov), which shows how these steps fit with everyone else's.

Add your school logo in Setup Centre
Personalisation and branding is the second step in Setup Centre. For now, it adds your school logo to your portal.
How to add your logo
In Setup Centre, select Personalisation & branding.
Upload your school logo. Use a high-quality image.
Apply the logo. Every version you upload is listed below it, so you can switch back if you need to.
Preview your logo on the login page, or go to your home page to see it there.
Allocate staff permissions in Setup Centre
Before you start: Import your people in Setup Centre (Technician steps)
Permissions allocation is the fourth step in Setup Centre. Because your staff came across at the beginning, you can give them access straight away, before training starts.
Compass Permissions are used to control staff access throughout your Compass Portal and limit access to what can and can’t be seen according to their role.
To assist you in providing your staff with the appropriate access within your portal, we have created Compass Role Groups that include individual permissions to provide job-specific access to your staff. As a default all staff members are assigned to the CompassStaff permission group - this gives them the basic access needed to use Compass, however, you will need to go through and assign additional access to staff who require it. Please access the full Guide on Permission Groups and their involved Individual Permissions below:
How to allocate permissions
Permissions can be allocated in a few different ways. Be sure you've confirmed your preferred method before commencing:
Locally within Compass
Active Directory (via CompassLink)
1. In Setup Centre, select Permissions allocation.
2. Select staff members and allocate the role groups they need.
3. Check the list to see who has role groups and who doesn't yet.
Allocating permissions in bulk
To set up lots of staff at once, download the CSV template from this step, follow the instructions shown, and import the completed file.

Configure your schedules in Setup Centre
Applies to: All.
Before you start: Ensure your CASES21 data is syncing in successfully.
Who does this: Sponsor (primary) or Timetabler (secondary).
Timetable setup is the final last step in Setup Centre. It starts with configuring your schedules: your terms, dates and period structure.
Setup Centre won't let you move on until your schedules are configured. That's deliberate: building a timetable on the wrong structure causes problems later.
How to configure your schedules
In Setup Centre, select Timetable setup.
Choose your school type (primary, specialist or secondary) and whether you'll use Schedule Builder or a timetabling package.
Setup Centre opens Configure Schedules. Work through each part: your terms and dates, then your period structures.
4. For period structures, either create them from scratch or import them from a CSV file.
Building your schedule in Schedule Builder
Applies to: Primary.
Before you start: Configure your schedules in Setup Centre
Once your schedules are configured, Setup Centre takes you to Schedule Builder to create the sessions your teachers mark rolls in.
Follow Schedule Builder - AU (linked below) to build and generate your schedule.

Send historical data to the Onboarding team
Applies to: All.
Before you start: Nothing. You can start straight away.
The Onboarding team will help you bring across historical records, because getting this data right matters. This happens alongside Setup Centre, at any time before or after Go Live, and is optional.
What you can send
Semester Reports must be labelled with the student's CASES21 code OR FirstNameLastName. Note: Class grouped reports are unable to be imported.
Wellbeing records: follow Migrating wellbeing and incident records (in Data Migration and Imports).
How to send it
Email your files to onboarding@compass.education, or share them through a share drive.
For other historical data, see Historical data migration (in Data Migration and Imports).
When you're done
Confirm everything is complete: you're ready to start training and your sandpit period.
Once every step that applies to your school is complete, including your Technician's and Timetabler's, you're ready to start your training and sandpit period in preparation for Go Live!
